The Kylian Mbappe EA FC 27 boots mark one of the biggest kit stories of the year. Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappé has ended his near two-decade partnership with Nike. He has signed a landmark deal with Swiss sportswear brand On instead.

Fans got their first real look at the switch through EA Sports FC 27. Mbappe appears in the video game wearing an all-white prototype boot built on On’s LightSpray technology. The French forward is also the cover star of the game’s Ultimate Edition, his first EA Sports FC cover in four years.

Here’s what the Kylian Mbappe EA FC 27 boots look like, and what comes next for his new boot deal.

Kylian Mbappe Leaves Nike After Nearly Two Decades

News that Mbappé left Nike broke on Friday, 18 September 2026, ending his partnership with Nike that began when he was eight years old. Few athlete deals in football have run this long. Cristiano Ronaldo and Vinicius Junior remain part of Nike’s current roster of football ambassadors.

Mbappe stood alongside them as one of the brand’s most visible faces before this switch. His signature boots were expected to remain part of Nike’s Mercurial line for years to come, before this deal changed all of that.

Mbappe left Nike after his contract expired on 31 July 2026. His departure from Nike comes a few weeks before the On switch was announced in full. French outlet L’Equipe has reported that the new On deal covers a ten-year period.

One has confirmed that the agreement combines a cash payment with an equity stake. That means Mbappe now owns a piece of the business rather than simply endorsing it. Neither side has published exact figures. Outlets covering his outgoing Nike deal have cited an annual figure of nearly £13 million. That number should be treated as an estimate rather than a confirmed sum.

On Is the Swiss Brand Behind Mbappe’s New Boots

On began life in 2010 as a running shoe label out of Switzerland. Tennis great Roger Federer bought into the company in 2019, a move that helped push the brand into wider public view. Training shoes and tennis footwear followed, and football marks On’s next expansion, with Mbappe standing as its most recognisable name across any sport it sponsors.

Thierry Henry takes on the newly created Director of Football post at On. He has been shaping the project behind the scenes since late 2025, well before this week’s announcement.

FC Barcelona’s Sydney Schertenleib, capped by Switzerland at international level, joins the brand’s founding group of football athletes alongside Mbappe.

The Kylian Mbappe EA FC 27 Boots Use On’s LightSpray Technology

Kylian Mbappé debuts the new look inside the game itself. The Kylian Mbappe EA FC 27 boots show up as a largely white cleat, with On’s branding stamped clearly across the upper.

The design leans on LightSpray, a manufacturing method built around robotics rather than traditional stitching. On engineered the process jointly with Mbappe, using his feedback from testing sessions.

Shoppers will need patience. On’s first commercial boots are expected to be released in 2027. That means the EA FC 27 version arrives in players’ hands, virtually at least, well over a year before anyone can buy a real pair.

Kylian Mbappe Has Already Trained in the New Boots

Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé gave fans their first pitch-side look at the boots away from a screen. Real Madrid’s training ground hosted the moment. Mbappe was spotted wearing the all-white prototypes during sessions before the club’s derby against Atletico Madrid.

An actual match debut was still unclear at the time. Mbappe had not yet fully stepped away from his old Nike Mercurials on matchday.

On expects more prototype sightings across the rest of the 26-27 campaign, with the finished retail boots still on course for a 2027 launch.

Kylian Mbappe Is the EA Sports FC 27 Ultimate Edition Cover Star

EA Sports announced Tuesday, 21 July 2026, that Mbappe would headline the Ultimate Edition cover of EA FC 27. It’s his first time on an EA Sports FC cover since the franchise’s branding moved from FIFA to EA Sports FC. Before that switch, Mbappe appeared on the covers of FIFA 21, FIFA 22, and FIFA 23. Erling Haaland took over cover duties once the EA Sports FC identity launched.

EA FC 27 arrives on 25 September 2026, with early access opening four days earlier on 21 September. Mbappe described featuring on the cover as a very special moment in his career.

Kylian Mbappe’s Season Explains the Size of This Deal

Mbappe’s form goes a long way toward explaining why a brand like On would build its football strategy around one player. A quick look at his recent honours shows why:

Competition / Achievement Result
LaLiga Leading scorer in his first two seasons at Real Madrid, from 2024 onward
UEFA Champions League 2025/26 Golden Boot, 15 goals
2026 FIFA World Cup Golden Boot, 10 goals
All-time World Cup goals 22, ahead of Lionel Messi’s previous record of 21

Mbappe’s 10 goals at the 2026 World Cup put him clear of the chasing pack. France reached the semi-final before losing to eventual champions Spain, so Mbappe missed out on a World Cup champion’s medal this year. Lionel Messi managed eight goals at the tournament, while Jude Bellingham and Erling Haaland scored seven apiece for their countries.

What Happens to Mbappe’s Nike Deal With France

One detail catches plenty of people out. Mbappe’s switch to On covers only his club career. France’s kit deal with Nike runs separately through the 2033-34 season. That means Mbappe keeps the Nike Swoosh on his shirt whenever he plays for his country, even in his new On boots.

Two contracts, two different parties. Mbappe’s personal boot deal remains with On, while the French federation’s kit agreement remains with Nike, regardless of what any individual player wears elsewhere. On’s arrival with a player of Mbappe’s profile is the clearest sign yet that the picture could shift before the boots reach shelves in 2027.
